Patience – Geduld!
We have now submitted the first draft of the statutes for the foundation of the “Children write for children” association. We will have to make some amendments but are hopeful that we can hold our first meeting and submit the final version by the end of this year. I will keep you informed about the progress of the project.

Wie einige von euch wissen, sind wir ja im Begriff, für das Projekt “Children write for children” einen gemeinnützigen Verein zu gründen. Der erste Satzungsentwurf ist nun zurückgekommen – und muss an manchen Stellen noch nachgebessert werden, um allen gesetzlichen Ansprüchen zu genügen. Das wird wohl einige Zeit dauern, aber ich denke, dass wir unser erstes Gründungstreffen, wie geplant, noch in diesem Jahr halten können.
Short Stories for Shree Bhanodaya Primary School
The children are busy writing new stories that will be published here, once they are ready. In the meantime we would like to offer some short stories that can be bought online or in book form. Some of these tales have already been published. The profit made from the sales will go towards Shree Bhanodaya Primary School. The school doesn’t as yet have a phone line. The money raised will go towards installing a phone line in the school. Details of the sales procedure will soon follow.

The summer holidays are nearly over and the work on the project has started again.

Eine neue Schule nimmt an dem Projekt teil
Jaleshwary Secondary School nimmt nun auch an dem “Children write for Children – Projekt” teil. Die ersten Geschichten sind bereits eingegangen. Die Schule befindet sich in Dhading, in der Provinz Bagmati. Sie liegt an der Straße zwischen Kathmandu und Pokhara.
Den Schülerinnen und Schülern ist es ganz wichtig, durch die Kontakte mit jungen Menschen aus anderen Ländern in Verbindung mit der Außenwelt zu treten.
Why Are We Doing This?
There is of course the question whether there is any sense in pursuing such a project. What does it matter if some kids publish their stories on the web and a few other children and their teachers or parents read them? I believe that this exchange of ideas and dreams between young people who come from different countries will at least not do any harm. In addition, this exchange is possible even for children who as yet don’t have the financial means of travelling.
For now these thoughts shall suffice to justify further activities aimed at developing “Children write for Children.” The project is in its initial stages and already now, after reading only a few stories, it becomes apparent that these tales, told by Nepalese children transport a view of the world which in my opinion is a very friendly and generous one.
Grishmadona talks for example about an earthquake that occurs in a village similar to her own. A lot of houses are destroyed and many people get killed. In only a few words she describes the feelings of neighbours and family who rescue to children alive. When I read this story I was very moved and I am looking forward to hearing more from Grishmadona.

A Valuable Addition To Our Team!
There is good news. Mrs Edeltraud Bindtner, a well known local artist who has already had many successful exhibitions in various parts of Germany, has joined the “Children write for Chrildren” team. Mrs Bindtner has agreed to illlustrate the stories written by the children. “This is a cause well worthy of support”, says Mrs Bindtner. “It makes me happy to think that with my drawings I can help to make the tales written by children even more popular.” And she continous, “I see this as a way of helping young people to make their views and their outlook of the world known to a wider audience.”

Die erste Geschichte!
Die erste Geschichte für das Projekt “Children write for Children” wurde eingesandt. Ein achtjähriges Mädchen erzählt von einem Tiger im Dschungel. Es ist eine sehr ungewöhnliche, sehr schön erzählte Geschichte, der noch hoffentlich viele folgen werden. Die kleine Autorin besucht eine Grundschule im Kathmandu Valley.
